Unexpected Android Auto upgrade

Hi

My March 2020 G31 needed an EGR software update which I waited 3 months from booking to my slot #grumpy

More grumpiness ensued when they wanted the car for the whole sodding day

Further grumpiness when I collected it and my seat memory was reset (1st world problem)

Yet more when the whole of my personalisations were also "factory reset"

And then I saw that I had Android Auto...........

Curious as Im sure my car was running iDrive 6 and Android Auto wasnt compatible - well not anymore, it works fine and I can eventually get Waze on the big telly!

I hadnt realised they could upgrade the iDrive and Im obvs quite pleased that it hasnt cost me a penny, besides losing my seat and wheel position which will no doubt take me 4000 miles to get 'just right' again

Anyone else?

My F11 had an EGR recall done couple of weeks ago. Idrive was completely reset to factory afterwards as was everything else. Weird
And I'm pretty sure I don't have android auto

What clocks does it have? The traditial look or the backwards ones? If the latter you have ID7 which should have added Android Auto via an OTA update years ago.
