Whats the concensus here?
Do i paint them then put them on or put them on and then paint them as a whole with the car.
Paint them first means a proper coating inside but you could scratch it off when fitting.
Is there a good way of stopping the rust starting behind them, particularly around those damn clips?

Ususally best to paint them before fitting.
The way to aviod the corrosion caused by the clips is to not use the clips, but use Araldite instead.It's like the chrome door window surrounds on the Mk 1 & Mk 2 Coopers where the clips cause rust to develop. I fit those strips with RTV sealant/adhesive and never have a problem.
Araldite could do that job as well, I guess.
The chrome strips over the wheel arches and under the doors is just the same and I use Araldite for that as well. It must be mixed and used exactly as the instructions and the surfaces must be clean and grease free.

Bought the celly yesterday, now just need the time.
Was chatting to the bloke in Brown Brothers (plug!) and he was saying that with celly going out of fashion the basic stock paint that they use to mix your paint was going hard. 2pack is current favourite (as we have discussed elsewhere) but is outlawed from 2007(?).From then on it'll be water based, much safer but insted of buying an airfed mask, I'll need to buy a whole heated painting chamber think as the water based stuff taked an age to dry........
I know you put your painting out, but it's part of the job I really enjoy and they are trying to take out of my hands it seems.
