Best car check site?

I am in the process of changing cars and have my eye on a C Class estate. I am fairly certain I am going to buy it but want to run a car check first to make sure it hasn’t been recorded as a write off, been stolen, been clocked etc.
There are dozens of companies offering this service for varying prices. Are they all the same or is there one company that is more trusted than others?

Another vote for vcheck. They check Salvage auction records which the others dont do. Important as sometimes a Categorised car wont get registered as such on VCAR and thus wont be picked up by a regular HPI check.

Its worth checking out the group 'Dodgy Cars' on facebook - its an affiliate site of VCheck and they post cars they've found hidden histories of. Quite shocking to see 'Approved Used' and 'AA Approved' cars previously having been Cat registered salvage wrecks but missed from HPI.
