330e real world cost / mpg / performance

Looking at the best options for mpg currently. Was checking out 320d and 330d (I presume these still work out cheaper to run than petrol equivalents with the cheaper cost of petrol?)

Now looking at the 330e which has a “real world” mpg of something like 140mpg. I know this won’t happen but is this based on purely running on electric?

What will it typically get on just fuel and what will it typically get on fuel but with a full charge of battery supporting it?

I had a 530e for 11 months. Over that time I covered 13,000 miles and the mpg was showing 48.4 when I traded in. Charged every night. Mixture of driving, short runs on battery alone to the office and back mixed with long runs to see customers, also towing a caravan for holidays/weekends away. Of the 13,000 miles about 5,500 were on electric only.

Now running an X5 45e and with the same sort of journey profile the average mpg is 48.3 but I haven't towed with it yet.

Just a note: diesel is now only 3p a litre dearer than petrol around here.

If most/all of your journeys are 30 miles or less, the 30e will be an option as long as you charge it.

For longer trips, 20d every time.

I’ve had a 30e (as a company car), it averaged low 30s as I never charged it and never needed to as had a petrol card.

The 20d will average 50mpg in most scenarios.

Horses for courses really, the 30e will work if you use it as intended. I didn’t, it was a 100 mile motorway commute which it didn’t really work. BIK saving (then) was amazing though, not so much now.

Mine is showing 47mpg over 18,000 miles with 7500 of those EV.

I got a 330e company car in December 2020, I do long journeys in it usually (100-200+ a day during the working week most days) and have covered about 62000 miles since getting it. I fully charge it every evening and my overall MPG to date is about 60mpg. I cruise at 68 on the motorway and don't really rag it that often.
