Looking at going away for bank holiday & wondering which hotel are 'nice' to stay at.

Never been there before, and would appreciate any assistance.

Have been looking at the following, which both look good, but are they near nightlife, restaurants, etc ?

The Glasshouse
The Bonham

Cheers.

Not too sure about hotels in Edinburgh but we had a very enjoyable meal in The Witchery and I'd definitely recommend it. I don't have the website or phone number handy but a quick google should do. Hope that helps.

Not strictly a hotel but we have stayed several times at the Knights Residence, a very nice set of serviced apartments. Easy walk to most things. Try looking on www.laterooms.com

Both central. The Glasshouse is 5 minutes walk from the East end of Princes Street. The Bonham is about 10 minutes walk from the West end of Princes Street. I'd say there's more stuff nearer the Glasshouse, but neither is exactly out of the way. Should be alright for availablilty as it's the last day of the festival, you can still catch a show or two on the last day, but worth booking online now as all the best stuff will be sold out. www.edinburgh-festivals.com/fringe/
Let me know if you want recommendations for restaurants or shows.

Swaying towards the Bonham.

Had no idea the festival was on, although would like to catch a show. Having just looked at the like provided, 'hot pursuit' seems a good choice (alledgedly).

Any other recommendations would be appreciated.

The Apex is good. Plus The Outsider is just around the corner and they do cracking food.

Best bet is to go through the 4 and 5 star reviews on the Scotsman site or just turn up at one of the bigger venues like the Pleasance or The Assembly Rooms and just go for it. Maybe you're going for a romantic weekend away, but it'll be a great night and I wouldn't waste too much time in a restaurant, just get moving and see some stuff.
I have seen so far this year:

Danny Bhoy - excellent - sold out I think.

Bill Bailey's Beergut 100 - excellent - was only a 4 nighter so finished. Going to see him in The Odd Couple tomorrow. Most likely sold out, but worth checking.

Simon Munnery - a favourite of mine. Nutter.

Alex Horne - When In Rome. Probably my favourite yet. Not sold out yet!

Angelo Tsarouchas - poor, even with free tickets.

John Hegeley was sold out.

Go and see Alex Horne or Howard Read or maybe Jimeoin (bit like an irish billy connolly) They're all on at the Pleasance I think which is a good place to soak up the atmosphere / Hoegaarden.

MacHomer is also truly excellent - saw that 2 years ago. MacBeth done with the Simpsons characters.

Book something online as soon as, they WILL be sold out come Monday.

Went on a stag do there recently and we did an old pubs crawl.
You should check out the "Cannie Mans" pub(think i've remembered that correctly). Seriously impressive!

They let you in to the Canny Man's on a stag do!! That place is snobby as feck and I refuse to set foot inside it these days.

Someone did tell us it was snobby, but we found it quite pleasant.

There was 6 of us and we were all welcomed in.

we just got back last night where we stayed at the SAS Radisson on the Roayl Mile. It's so central that we've stayed there the last few years. It's nicely unobtrusive too, so you don't get staff fawning all over you.
go to www.laterooms.com, and have a look there.
Cheers.
