This has been done to death I know. Quick advice needed with this;
Viewing tomorrow, a 2003 Ruby Red 111S with matching hardtop and aircon. 1 owner from new, 21K miles, FLSH, just been serviced. No mods. Asking £18.5K. I would think £18K would secure it. What do you think?
Any pointers for viewing, what should I check apart from the usual (oil cap, smoke, tyre wear etc.)?
Any comments appreciated.

Check for signs of chassis damage. Quite easy to check at the front, just turn the wheels onto a full lock and you'll see the front end of the tub.

Harder to do at the back without jacking up and removing undertrays.

Offer £17,750 at the moment. Loads for sale, buyers market. He can only say no. You're out to buy a car not make friends remember!

How can you tell a VVC engine from a bog standard? Is there anything different when you open the lid up - also, how do you open the engine cover!!

Bit late now cos I bought it!
I'm now a Lotus owner again!
I've been ing about thinking whether or not to get one, and one drive in it and there you go! Hopefully I've bought a good'un. Couldn't hear any funny noises, I take it the rear suspension is very firm, crashes a bit going over cracks and lumps in the road - I take it this is normal?? (please say yes).
It's an S2 111S, was very impressed with the whole thing, especially the brakes...and now it's mine wha ha ha haaaaaa.
I'll post a pic soon - collect her next saturday.

Thanks guys.
Can't wait to get back in it. Admittedly, this was the first, and only one I looked at. Loved the colour plus it had all the extras, and was fairly local. I've questioned the coolant level, which was a tad below the 'min' mark. The guy said that it's all been pressure tested and it always just sits at this level, even if you top it up, so I'm happy with that. He didn't seem to have spared any money getting things sorted on it...

Coolant should be on the min mark when the engine is cold - don't worry about it unless it starts loosing some.

Nice colour and nice spec! Enjoy it.

that's a bloody nice colour - when you said red I just assumed 'red'!

Am I right, your pic is of ruby red, but the one I was thinking of was Ardent Red ?

it's the Ruby Red. It's similar to the 'silk red' that used to be on Elans and Esprits I think.
Thanks for the comments.
