best 7 seater for 12k?

We're looking to replace our ageing Touran pretty soon with something slightly larger. We've been looking at VW Sharan, Seat Alhambra and Citroen C4 Grand Picasso. Are we missing anything? We had a 2 series gran tourer a few years ago but that would be a bit small now

There's the Japanese imports, Nissan Elgrand, Honda Stepwgn, Toyota Alphard.

Volvo XC90.

VW, Ford, Mercedes combi vans.

Imports are out to be honest as with vans, the wife will be driving it the most and they're all too big.

Probably should have said we're looking for the newest vehicle we can get so ideally 2016/17

We went through similar about 18 months ago, same price and age requirements. Your choice is basically a Vauxhall Zafira Tourer with reasonably mileage, or one of the others that has Taxi mileage on it.

Fair enough, the Honda Stepwgn isn't actually that big, narrower than the Touran and only slightly longer and taller but within 10 cm.

Do any of these have the wet cambelt engine fitted to the transits or am I looking at cars that predate those engines?

We ran a 2008 Ford Galaxy for well over 10 years, genuine 7 seater, fold flat seats. Rear most row has a bit more headroom than the SMax. Fairly reliable apart from the steering rack which was it eventual downfall.

Go large or go home, a Mercedes GL* is all the 7 seats you'll ever need

*Your running cost may be a little bit higher than an VW Sharan.

A 2016 that's Galaxy/Sharan in size is a big ask, I think you'll get a decent 2015.

The C4 Grand Picasso or Spacetourer are not really any bigger than a Touran. Smax is a fraction bigger but otherwise you are in Galaxy/Sharan/Alhambra territory.

Get the reg and do an MOT check. Nearly all the dark and black Galaxy's I looked at over the last couple of years were taxis.
