not only is it to simple (it's far to easy to see that "John" was the lad who had created the characters although it is unbelievable) but how interesting is it going to be seeing people "chat" in a "chatroom"?
If the film is made, it'll probably be the straight-to-tv "documentary" style.

But alongside all that is why it took the police so long to work it out. Even without knowing that all the (dodgy) characters misspelt the same word it was obvious to anybody there was one person messing around.
I guess the real question could be is it illegal to mess with someones head by pretending to be someone your not on the internet?....

The thing that scared me was the 14 year old's ability to manipulate another mind. I hope he puts his brain to good use now.
Very entertaining TV tho'

It took them 3 months after the stabbing to identify John as a potential partner in the crime!! Where as it should be:
Boy1 stabs boy2. Parents questioned about habits of boys in question. Both use internet chat rooms. Computers siezed. Chat room text in cache read by the police. Boy2 becomes suspect based on the fact he's the admin for the chatroom and dodgy stuffs going on. Should take about a week i'd say.
True - but Mark admitted the stabbing - he was captured on CCTV - so you could say the Police's work was done. It was only when they researched further for a motive they found the true story. Don't forget, these guys were on the internet for up to 12 hours a day - can you imagine how long it will take to trawl through all of their conversations to search for evidence.
