Finally we have a great commentary team

If you're still tolerating sky in the UK you really need to have a word with yourself

Technically they aren’t this season. They are now the official F1TV commentary team, and C4 are using that commentary instead of producing it themselves.

I don’t know, they didn’t even mention once the ‘interesting’ stat regarding Tsunoda possibly finishing 11th three times in a row, Crofty mentioned it at least four times….

First time this season I’ve watched it on C4.
It was nice without shouty Croft.

I was about to watch the highlights on channel 4 but after 2 or 3 ad-breaks and a lot of insufferable nonsense pre-race I switched over to NowTv (Sky) to watch the full repeat of the race. Hmm, I’m hindsight, maybe that wasn’t such a good idea….. I used to like channel 4 but it became too much like RedBullTV so I stopped watching.

Indeed.

And yes, they really are a very good selection - so much better than Croft!! Kinda miss MB and I do sometimes switch to the Sky commentary feed for that reason. The addition of DC this season has made the already good commentary excellent imo.

Could easily lose Coulthard and his RB bias, but even with him, still miles better than anything involving Croft.

The bias seems to have dulled a little this season. Perhaps when they're winning he doesn't feel the need to prop them up endlessly.

Yes, the big difference is no more croft, which is great. Also no more paying silly Sky prices, also great.

He does seem at times as if he lost a bet with the stats guy, and has to shoehorn in everything on his sheet during the race! Will check out the F1TV commentary on the highlights package.

Being very sad, I watched the race live and then the end (60mins) of C4 for the interviews that I had missed.

C4 definitely give the impression of 90mins of highlights and 60mins of adverts, which is way too much for me.

Plus, I still believe that the Carlos penalty was the biggest travesty since Abu Dhabi 2021. The guy was turning right away from Fernando as much as he could, he made the apex and so had the car under control. I think that in front of the Stewards, Fernando would have said it was a racing incident, he had not seen Carlos closing on his inside and came across in a very similar manner to Gasley on Ocon. The stewards said he was sufficiently far back to give Fernando room - his front wheel was alongside Fernando’s rear, thats how they tagged.

Giving him a 5sec penalty without the opportunity to open a gap was simply crass. It should have been decided after the race, the podium was not affected, so there was no need to no rush.

Don't think he's biased like that, more a full time arse kisser to anyone he thinks will gain him something.

It's worked out well for him over the years.

Unless he has changed over the year end he has always been RB biased, he has been on a retainer for years. This year I think his role has been taken by Danny so could well be the reason he has dialled it back this year.

All I can say is this season, this far, there has been no bias that I have noticed. All very chilled, fair and quite high brow commentary - which is quite a contrast to Sky.

Yeah I can't say from limited experience I've noticed annoying bias. Finding the coverage spot on, several times we made a comment only to have the commentary repeat exactly what we'd just said. Nice to be on a wavelength and have your understanding supplanted, rather than listening to an idiot bellow nonsense that's orders of magnitude below our "fairly keen fan" knowledge level.

I can sacrifice having to listen to Crofty to watch F1 in UHD

I probably could too.. but I'd also have to sacrifice quite a lot of money each season as F1TV is way cheaper, also Sky doesn't offer the flexibility of a streaming service such as F1TV.

I presume you mean a stream that you can output to a TV rather streaming in general (as surely you can watch it on Sky Go app)?

Also am I missing something i.e. is F1TV more than just a highlights & pitwall data service? As when I go on the website thats all I see for £2.99pm

You need a VPN set to America or somewhere and a non geo payment eg Google wallet to buy f1tv pro.
