Audi TT mirrors painted and fitted!
Discussion
I finally finished my Audi TT Mk1 mirror conversion, and I'm pretty pleased with it. The original drivers mirror was broken and just spinning on its mount. The TT Mk1 mirrors are really cheap, a good match looks wise, although there is a fairly limited view on the left hand side rear from the driver's seat.
I wanted to do this so the original mirrors could be re-fitted if I ever wanted to go back to stock so I made up a custom mount that utilised the original hole in the door. I did drill an additional small hole in the door for the mirror wiring but this is concealed under the original boss if you ever did want to fir the OE mirrors.
The Audi mount was chopped in half and I made a new adapter out of some threaded bar and couple of large roofing washers. Forgive the terrible welding, my MIG has a wire feed problem!
It took quite a while to get the height right and I wasn't happy with the profile of the underside of the TT plastic cover which didn't really match the Chimaera door. I reshaped this and then added some rubber trim to the base to make it sit nicely when compressed down by the position of the mirror.
Looks pretty factory when installed and I got a great match on the paint on the standard colour code thanks to 'hugspaint' on ebay. The wiring all works too. Picture included when I was testing which Audi mirror wire to connect to the TVR loom. This was all nicely soldered and shrinkwrapped before replacing the glass.

Nice solution.
What mirrors did you fit? If they were 'flat' you may want to try the convex / blind spot / spherical versions to widen the view on both sides. If you change them, I'd go with a blue tint too to mitigate headlight dazzle.
Ah that's a great idea. Yes I have the flat ones although they are blue tinted which looks quite cool. The driver's side is fine to be honest, just the A pillar that cuts some of the view on the left mirror. What mirrors did you fit?
