OK I know its a long shot but has anyone got a pair of
Cibie Oscar lying around the back of their garage they might like to flog??. Not too worried about condition since I want to spray the bodies to suit the car. They would finish off my Mini perfectly, and its his birthday soon!!.

Nice to hear that someone is fitting 'proper' spotlights rather than the useless 4-lamp set-up as supplied by Rover on the later cars. The Super-Oscars are even better and I use a pair on my Historic Rally car. Fantastic, especially with 100W bulbs.
One sort of bulb I don't like is the 'blue-xenon'. I tried these at 100w and did a snowy rally. The bluish tinge semed to take away the definition of the road and edges. Perhaps it was just me, but they seemed strange. The white-xenon are much better.

Ooooh Cibie Super Oscars!
Look great andwork well, seem to remembr the only downside is the depth of the bowl at the rear.
There was a Mk 2 Escort in blue with Cibies 2 up & 2 down, just as they used to be, passed me today and I went all watery eyed.....sad I know
Can you still get Cibies?? They'll look good on my Clubby...

I have a pair of Super Oscars buried in the garage. I bought them for a Mini and never got around to fitting them. Mail me through my profile.

I reckon that good old Lucas 700s are still the go. That is if you have a proper mini I was chatting to a chap yesterday who had Lucas 700's at £10 a piece. Sadly, I'm all 576'd out.

I know a guy who has some ratty Oscars which need new reflectors and the chrome is a bit ratty. They could be cheap/useful for bits. Em if you're interested. Look OK though,

Demon Tweeks do them new, both Oscars and Super Oscars.
The old Lucas 700 is still a great lamp, so long as you can fit halogens, bu tthe Oscart is slightly better, the Super Oscar better satill, but best by far are the 8" PIAA I use dto have until I met a closed gate on a tight section in the Lake District almost 2 years and wiped them both out. That's why I have the Super Oscars. However, on my Rover 214 Si Enduro rally Cart I now have PIAA's and they really ae the best, especially with 100W white xenon bulbs.
