Anyone have any idea how much it costs to land a plane here?

Anyone noticed that take offs are free, and there's no limit on the number you can do either...

Great if you have a harrier, take off on the run with full tanks and max weight when you need the runway and land in your backyard vertically when its burnt most its fuel

There was a big to-do with City a while back when a chap declared a precautionary landing and put it down there. They then proceeded to try and charge him full whack. Cant remember what the outcome was but it flied (geddit?!) in the face of the old school rules of no fees for emergencies / precautionaries... Seem to recall a large article on it in the Aopa mag earlier this year...

I heard a story about a chap who, in a spate of temporary spastication, presumed the looming gatwick on the horizon to be another local(ish?) airfield.

Not realising his mistake on approach, he put down his small light aircraft, and was asked to stump up £10k or something (forget the exact amount) for the landing fee!!

He'd have to land there, in order to be able to take advantage of the free take offs though

I wonder if that is quoting the same person that said:

'a good pilot is one with as many landings as take offs'

Although parking cars there seems quite reasonable given the location...

Although I note that parking fees are liable to change once the DLR service is up & running. Bah!
