Mazda 6 2.2 2017 sport nav

Hi there folks,

I have a budget of 11k and the Mazda 6 has caught my eye. 2017 sport nav 66k miles.

I have viewed one that looks pretty clean from a Mazda dealer. I asked about service history and they have emailed me this.


Would you accept this as proof of service history? Anything else I should for?

The car has had two regs. One English and one NI. The current reg is WUI4867

I can't find the MOT history online. Why is this?

I think they have their own DVLA in NI, not sure if it's possible to call Mazda UK and they can give you any service history or not (if it's been serviced in the dealer network)?

Hi there,

Yeah they do have their own DVLA in NI but no details came up on the MOT history just to say what kind of car it is.

I have a 2019 one, which is basically just the same with cosmetic tweaks, probably some minor mechanical updates.

My first and last mazda, loads of minor faults that are all known manufacturing or bad design flaws.

-Mazda door mirror motors only last a couple of years, my latest ones have failed this week with the cold
- the soul red paint chips and scratches just by looking at it
- seat release levers snap, currently can’t put my seats down
- water gets into various wiring looms if you park on any gradient
- very squeaky and rattle trim
- front windows are designed in way that they don’t clear rain when put up and down
- no rear wiper but shape attracts dirt easily
-windscreen wipers can only be got direct from Mazda regardless of what halford, euro parts or Amazon says

That’s the known common faults that I have that everyone on the forums also have

However…..they are the minor stuff, if the forums are to be believed, then expect the 2.2 to carbon itself up and throw various parts requiring a new engine say…. Every 40-50k miles.

New engine will be required sooner if you don’t replace the oil strainer, pickup, oil every 6k and drive under 200 miles on any given journey, so goes the folklore!

Also suffers from chain stretch so best to plug in a forscan compatible reader, again results in an engine right off apparently of not spotted.

Lot of reports of dpf problems, Mazda apparently updated the software on a recall so it automatically regens every 400 miles now, but if it does it and you turn off then it off mid cycle then the engine oil gets diluted and you are in a world of trouble. But I’m. It sure thats any different to any other dpf system to be fair. But a lot claim Mazdas system is one of the worst.

All that aside, if you read any mainstream review sites, they all say it’s a reliable car…













Any question let me know, the car is ok, but I’m amazed at how many serious design flaws Mazda just seem to think are fine. It’s not even like it’s a new car, Mazda do much longer cycles with more major updates.
