I suspect he's been recalled more because he actually has a smart phone, judging by what he's reported to have said he couldn't find the dark web if it jumped out in front of him and said "Do you want to be in my gang?"

Apparently really disliked at the probation centre where he was staying, and the other residents had it in for him and wanted him out of there.

I’m surprised someone hasn’t taken the opportunity to give him a proper hiding as well.

His release wasn’t decided by the parole board; he had reached the mid point in his sentence so it was automatic. He will however have to convince a parole board if he wants released in the future, which I suspect will be a difficult conversation (thankfully).

It might be best not to trust what he says though
