Notwithstanding the fact that I'm on the lookout for an F32 440i, I'm also not averse to saving about £5k and getting an F32 420i with the B48 engine instead. I've seen a June 2018 one that looks perfect, but the dealer's photo of the service records on the iDrive shows that first service wasn't done until it was two years old and had 17,000 miles on it. Is this normal for these cars? The next service was done after another year and 3,000 miles and the one after that, another year and 3,000 miles, the lack of mileage from two years old obviously due to covid lockdowns. Anyway, going back the the first two years, does the manufacturer's service interval allow for two years and 17,000 miles or has this car been neglected? NB. The cars is for sale at a Ford main dealer, so it's not a approved used BMW.

Standard interval is 19k or 2 years whichever comes first, but the cars will reduce the mileage based on how it’s Fl driven (my old 320d flagged up at 15k)

It’s possible the next owner has serviced it each year regardless or it could be that one of the other “services” are for brake fluid which is due at 3 years, then the next oil service the following year.

BMW servicing is every 2 years or by condition based driving. Some people can manage 25k miles between services if the car is driven smoothly without too many short trips.

The service at 3 years will have been a brake fluid change.

If the services have been carried out on time the idrive service screen will show OK in green. Slightly late OK will be amber. If they have been carried out too late OK will be red.

Thanks all. I didn't realise the service intervals were so long. I'd be inclined to get a car serviced every 12 months regardless!

Interesting that the 20,070 mile service has an amber OK, even though it was less than 3,000 miles after the 17,284 service!

The 2018 service was the registration at the first dealer.

The 2020 service was slightly over the 2 year service interval.

The 2021 brake fluid service was slightly over the 3 year service interval. It is linked to the registration date and not standard oil servicing.

The 2022 service was 2 years after the 2020 service.

Thanks. I figured the first one would be the initial dealer inspection, but interesting to know what the others actually are.
