I'm looking at a Merc CLS but the vendor only has service print outs for 2019 to 2023 (second owner), There is no paperwork for the servicing by the first owner 2016 to 2019.

The vendor advises Merc will only share serviing info to owner with the V5 etc.

1. is above correct?
2. or is there another way to get confirmation of servicing from Merc?

I'm definately interested in buying the car but there is a risk in not having proof of the 1st 3 years of serving. It would be strange is the first owner spent >£50K to buy the car and didnt service at Merc or risk invalidating the warranty using a local garage.

I'd say the price is reasonable and the garage say they have factored this into the price...

any advice or options to confirm the service history appreciated!

Do you have an independent MB tech near you ,the guy I used had exactly the same software as the stealers (so he should of for what it cost),I think it’s called MB star ,might be a simple oversight as you get 21 days I think to upload work done to car onto the portal, well it was at that time approximately 2 years ago…

Downside is you’ll need the VIN..

The vendor could take their V5C to the MB dealer and ask for a full print out.

My Mercedes is 2009 and all the history is kept on the cloud, it's about when they started having no service books, although some may have one of they kicked up a fuss. 2 years ago, they stopped the average punter (i.e. Me, the owner frown ) from running a service report, quoting Data Protection....

If you have a service report printed out by any specialist or dealer, it should list all the previous services. I've found main dealers to be amenable too, but as said above, you need to be the owner with the V5c.

It's a st show

Garage is correct that Merc won't share info

What tends to happen is garages ask Merc employees on the various Trade Forums / FB Groups

That's progress for you rolleyes
