Debbie Harry (Blondie), Viv Albertine (The Slits), Siouxsie Sioux (Siouxsie and the Banshees), Chrissie Hynde (The Pretenders), Poly Styrene (X-Ray Spex) and Pauline Black (The Selecter).

My wife is the nerd. I've seen this pic before as well.

I knew them all as well, but I do still listen to a lot of the Punk and New Wave music.

Surprisingly, the one I struggled with, when you consider how long I’ve “studied”:earlier pictures of her, was Debbie Harry.

Wot, no Patti Smith? wink

Debbie and Siouxie were two sides of the same coin for me in my teenage years!

Great pic. Chrissie Hynde and Debbie Harry two of my
lifelong faves. Parallel Lines was the first album I ever bought. On tape, no less. But Chrissie Hynde is the more accomplished musician IMO.

When do we reckon it was taken - early 80s?

I think late 80s?
The rest were young in their prime but DH was 33ish whenBlondie released Parallel lines and in that photo she looks middle aged (but still attractive)

Seems to have been taken August 1st 1980.

A more relaxed version

Just Vivs name eluded me, but knew she was from the slits, the rest were obvious to an old bloke like me.

Poly was a big favourite.

Great pic. I also missed just Viv Albertine and haven’t seen that picture before. I am, therefore, also an old git biggrin

First album I bought was Best of Blondie in 81 and also listened a lot to The Pretenders and Souixie, not so much the other three. Still listen to this and a lot of other female rock/punk/indie stuff.

Wonder who would be in a version of that photo for each decade since…???

I was chatting to my friend on the original image and he got 3 but one was Cyndie Lauper. You can probably guess which one....

It's a good guess but it's not right.

Using AI to track this down. August 1980 was a bum choice in hindsight

Bloody loved Poly and X Ray Spex.

I got them all apart from Debbie Harry! Just doesn't look like her.
