Well, it's going up in UK in April and will be €1000/mth . I don't know how the overall cost of living compares these days but recent comments about how expensive vegetables are in France are interesting.

And yet the pension age in the UK is inevitably going to rise to 68 (and beyond no doubt) and we just accept it.

My parents both get a state pension, both of them get more than the standard amount for some reason. They are both very happy with the amount they get, it certainly doesn't stop them going on holiday for months at a time.

Which is like comparing apples and pears, most of Europe don't have the same concept of private pensions that we have in the UK.

Depending on age they may be in receipt of SERPS which was replaced by the new state pension for new pensioners from 2016 which is often significantly less generous.

You're suggesting people who don't work should get nearly as money for doing nothing?

Eh! all I’m doing is setting out the very basic facts of the National pension payment in France, it is 85% of their minimum wage. People do get over excited in here and imagine all sorts of things

Pension in France is 1200 euro.

But £815 is not far off 1000euros.
