A WBAC virgin asks...
Discussion
I've not put myself in such a situation before.........
What will I encounter when I turn up at the WeBuyAnyCar cabin/car park combo next month to sell my 2019 Fiat Panda Cross?
Our KIA Soul arrives in a few weeks. Therefore, the Panda Cross has to go. The KIA dealership offered far less than WBAC as a trade in. So, I'd be foolish not to give WBAC a go.
I assume that WBAC will 'find' every fault imaginable in the car when I pitch up, in order to get the price down. Is that the deal? Quote high online, then grind the punter down once they're on-site? Or, do they honour their quote for a decent car?
Should I bother valeting the car? There's a slight scrape on one wheel. Is it worth getting that seen too? Anything else I should be aware of?
I'm quite prepared to drive away if the final offer is silly. I'd just like to be properly prepared when I show up.
Thanks!
You probably won't even be there ten minutes. I sold an Astra GTC to them last December and ended up getting more than they had offered online. I don't think they even started it up (I think I had the keys with me in their portacabin whilst the woman went to do the walk around).
Easy and a good service, I'd use them again.

That would be good. Easy and a good service, I'd use them again.
I've used them a couple of times until I came across Motorway. WBAC would chip me down for the very slightest things then did the "I'll phone my manager to see if I can get a better price for you..." trick. Another would be how any many previous owners so you tell them. Then when you take the car, they say but when we sell the car, but you're another previous owner affecting the price. I stopped using them after that.
My experience of them was fine.
I used them as I could walk home after selling the car
.
The online estimate you have is a guide for you, they'll start from scratch rather than check against what you entered online. In my experience anyway. Not that this is a problem.
I thought I had a manufacturer FSH, but as the car hadn't been used for a year I hadn't got it serviced in the last year... this knocked money off.
I came away a couple of hundred lighter than I hoped, but selling my car in my lunch break was worth it. I may have got more privately but after how much hassle and how long?!

As others have said, they don't seem to be concerned about the mechanical and running (or otherwise) condition of the car. I limped a Fiesta ST into there once which had a horrendous whine in first and second gears, and prayed they didn't start it and drive it. They didn't, but the online price was greatly knocked down for every bit of body damage they could possibly find.

You will be asked to get out of the car and perform a goofy dance routine to demonstrate your excitement at the sale.
Horrifying.I got a better price from Manheim via Autotrader (sell my car > get an instant offer).
They also came to me, so I didn't have to find a way home, nor did they charge an admin fee.
The money was in my bank just a few minutes after agreeing to sell.
If you describe the car accurately (as I did) you won't suffer much of a deduction.
I was offered £5230 taking into account the marks I listed.
In addition, they found some scratches (caused by twigs/bushes) on the left front wheel arch and knocked it down to £5161.

If its as described it'll be painless and pleasant, you need to be prepared to take a few knocks though if you have been economical with your description. Any non factory paint will be pointed out to you and potentially bring the price down etc etc
Notwithstanding my photo, the car's in good condition. It doesn't have a 'full' service history, coz Covid. But two services in its three years may be ok.I've used them a couple of times and in my experience, the cleaner the car, every tiny imperfection was picked up, the last car I took to them I left in a similar state to your photo and they picked up on a couple of obvious marks but definitely didn't look at it as closely as the recently polished and waxed cars.
