V8S insurance.....yes very boring but......................

Hi guys,

It's that time of year again and we're trying to reduce our premium.

I've tried:

Classicline
Luker,Rowe & Co
Lancaster
TVRCC
Diamond
Norton/Heritage
Norwich Union

Car is garaged and we are both over 30. It is however modified. 4.6 Ltr rather than "standard" 4.0:yum:. Any thoughts on who else I can try? Best quote I've got is £405 for 5000 miles.

Got a storming quote on my V8S in April of £283 from Liverpool & Victoria.
They like mature drivers and appreciate that in the main the S series tend to be 'cherished'

Although doesnt sound a bad quote for such a beast of a car though Kevin......? I pay £290!

Privilege gave me a good quote for my S3 (£350 for 10,000 miles) when all the so-called specialists wanted an arm and a leg or refused to insure 'cos I didn't have one years experience driving TVR's (even though I'm 53 with an NCB as long as your arm!) but they might not like modified cars.

For the record most companies run for cover when you mention that the car is modified. I have tried all those listed and have still to beat the one from Classicline (£405 - 5000 miles), who don't seem to care what you do to your car as long as you tell them.

Anyway, deal I got was about £700ish, business use, unlimited miles, (no point in my limiting them really), but thats with an introductory NCB, (1 or 2 years I think) as I couldn't transfer the NCB over from the Audi as thats with another co until the end of its policy. So, effectively with no 'real' NCB to use, it was cheaper than the S3C was for ther same deal with full NCB..

Similar for my V8S. Last month tried all the above and although I have 9 years NCB, no convictions/speeding etc none would insure for various reasons, usually because I had only had my V8S for 5 months. Ended up with Directline for £450 unlimited miles etc.
