Evening all

What’s the consensus or experience with frozen paint?
Been offered a deal on a car with it - basically thrown into the deal.
Dunno if it’s worth a punt or not?!

What colour is it?

The black looks great on the right car.

Just don’t polish it smile

It’s frozen tanzanite blue, looks nearly black in certain light.
I quite like it, would never have ordered tanzanite in frozen or regular to be fair.

From the few reviews I've read, isn't the frozen paint a bit of a PITA because it's basically the normal paint colour with a 'frozen' matte layer applied on top? The top layer can scratch off fairly easily so it has to be washed carefully and generally protected.

I appreciate this is my personal opinion so others will see things differently, but it strikes me as a lot of hassle for a car that looks worse for it.

I briefly had a Frozen Silver E92 M3 Comp Pack. It was an absolute PITA and is the only car i've rejected.

Cleaning it was fine, you just have to use a pH-neutral shampoo like Autoglym Pure. Obviously you can't polish or wax it afterwards, so it was a quick job.

Long story, but mine needed a small scuff repaired to the rear bumper and a section of flat/doppled panel to be blown over. Suffice to say it went from bad to worse and resulted in more and more panels being resprayed to get it to blend. All this did was result in the car looking horrific (inc one wing actually coming back glossy) and me getting my money back on the car.

I wouldn't own another but agree the best option is to wrap over the top of it.

Also bear in mind acidic foreign matter like bird st has to be removed asap otherwise you'll have a dull splodge left on the panel which is really obvious. So owning one that's parked outside in the UK isn't very practical.

That's one reason why it's also called 'paranoia paint' by some owners.

I also had a frozen silver M3, I had no issues with washing or waxing it using the opaque range from swissvax but mine also needed some paint after a car park scratch and it was a nightmare eventually it looked ok but was very rough to the touch.
