Hope that we might not destroy ourselves in an implosion of liberal left politically correct stupidity, after all.

And from the most unlikely of places, I certainly wouldn't have seen it coming. Our precious children are seemingly sticking two fingers up at the creeping insidious lunacy.

It looks like they are de-programming themselves, realising the happy clapping forced upon them isn't a very good idea at all. Everyone clapping, yet nobody is happy.

No apologies for the link below being from the Daily Mail as you would probably not see it in the Guardian, not that I read it as it is too wordy with far too few pictures.

I did say it was a glimmer of hope, I do hope there is some truth in it.

Those school protests did make me wonder why it hadn't been done before.

Like the JD sports riots back in 2010, it hits home how much society just relies on people following the rules.

There aren't enough teachers to physically control the kids, and they can't really use force anyway.

I guess what they've done today is just lock the gates, but ultimately the school has to open and provide teaching, else it reflects badly on the leadership team.

I get with younger infant children, you say: "this is the rule because I am the teacher"

But what older kids, that just won't work. Teachers need to explain why rules are being put in: not just that they are. This is to parents as much as the kids.

My secondary school kid's schools have been locking toilets during lessons, and doing "sit down" breaks to enforce behaviour.

But ultimately, teaching (like society) relies on that implicit trust.

Or: this might just be a stupid fad that will die out soon enough once something else comes along.

What are we thinking? Russians? US Christians? Home grown Neo Nazis?

Everyone knows kids are always more radically left wing than their parents so someone must be putting them up to it.

Has that article been written in the usual Daily Mail style whereby the headline implies one thing, that pupils are protesting about gender neutral uniforms, when they are actually protesting about something else? eg being 'searched' to check they have their 'learning resources ready'.

Very confusing article - perhaps deliberately so.

I don't think the students are protesting gender neutral uniforms in the way the Daily Mail and OP would like them to be. They are protesting because the school hasn't introduced a gender neutral choice, they have imposed a single uniform of trousers in winter and shorts in summer on everyone because the girls have been wearing their skirts too far above the knee like girls have been doing since school was invented. Its about as far from protesting woke as you can get, its protesting authoritarian rules and checks, not choice and autonomy which is the woke position.

Think you may need to read that article again, if that's your interpretation.

To be fair it's probably pretty much what the Mail intended people to think once they had read the article.

Many schools seem to have an obsession with stopping girls dressing as girls and some seem to be rebelling seems to be gist of it.

The young often rebel against authority and "authority" now is overwhelmingly progressive-authoritarian.

It's always deliberate. They know their readership are too unintelligent and bigoted to absorb anything other than however the title of an article aligns with their existing prejudices.

I'd bet no one has ever seen the bottom of a Mail Online article. Just the headline and first paragraph is enough to get you good and frothy.

I thought the protest were about them locking toilets in lesson time originally?

I can only read the headline which I guess is just about all The Telegraph wants me to read. Did the school only do a U-turn on banning girls from wearing skits? Or is there actually more to it than that?

Tbh the thought of schoolgirls protesting in very short skirts probably gets them frothy.

The first one I heard of was for a school banning people from going to the bathroom during class time and making girls show a red card if they needed to go out for their period.

Are you saying this because you see a lot of girls wearing trousers to school? You realise this is through choice? My son is at high school and girls can choose to wear a skirt or trousers. They all wear trousers. How often do young teenagers wear skirts when they're out and about and not on a night out?

The girls in my high school staged a trouser protest because they were required to wear skirts.

The more things change the more they stay the same; all that changes is the presentation, hence today's equivalent of the 80s moralising religious right wingers defend a progressive-themed doctrine.

Saw this too. Dont know if it was this article or another, but one of the parents of the children were complaining that the Teachers had told the kids to stop protesting... and then went on strike.

Nice!

Is the answer not to have a range of suitable schoolwear skirts, trousers, shorts etc. And allow the pupils to wear what they wish rather than force them to wear something they do not want to
