What is the best BMW code reader/reset tool/App for BMW's from the 00's - 10's? Preferably not laptop based.

I currently have a 2006 E90 325i that I intend to service myself and fit new brake pads to. I would then need to reset the service indicators - it has the iDrive option so the screen shows dates/miles until these items are due.

Also I may be buying another BMW of a similar vintage in the next few months once I get my strategy on multiple cars decided, but likely to be E39, E60, X5 (08-ish) so something that works with these as well would be useful.

If there is something that works with Audi's as well then that is a bonus but not essential - my wife has a 2010 A3.

TIA

I've used the Creator C310 and Autophix 7910 for plug n play devices on previous E39s, E65 and F01

I've got the Creator C410 now and Bimmercode on my iPhone for my current F31

The Creator C310 did superbly; it's a decent code reader and will reset the errors as well as register batteries to the younger models that need it etc

c£50 on Amazon and small enough to have in the car all the time

Thanks d_a_n1979 - your reply sounded great so I googled reviews of the Creator 310+ and as BMW owners seem to love these I have now ordered one.

Thanks cornershop - it does seem to be the go to tool for BMW's and good to know it works on some of the 90's stuff as well.

You don’t need a code reader to reset the service lights (useful for reading codes etc) but resetting of oil change intervals etc can be done through the binnacle.

That’s how I’ve done it on my 130i, 125i and my current 335i.

Correct. Brake service reset can be an issue if you have tripped the sensor though.
