Dash top removal for navvies
Discussion
Hi all, I can't get hot air to my feet, and have found lots of hot air leaking from the dash top where it meets the stainless steel strip on the passenger side.
I clearly need to remove the dash top. I can see the nuts that hold it on, and I can just about touch them but my hands are more navvy than ballet dancer so getting my hand and any tool up there doesn't work. Anyone have any experience/suggestions of how to remove the nuts (and perhaps as important, how to get the back on again afterwards).
Thanks

John,
OK, yes, the 2 off 10mm bolts/flat and spring washers are bl**dy awkward to get at.
I've done my dash top using a light source, inspection mirror and 1/4" ratchet drive with short extension and 10mm socket. To get better wriggle room I undid the c/sunk hex drive screws under the "parcel shelf" and 'eased' same off the alloy brackets to open the access.
In fairness, your description of << air escaping from dash roll top and alloy (S/Steel) cross member>> sounds like the silicone elbow is not seated properly on the flap housing on underside of dash top? I'd inspect by getting your head in passenger side footwell and using a torch, look up to see 2 off 75mm(?) silicone elbows connecting the (A/C and heater matrix) housings in the engine bay to the dash top. Feeling around the elbows will indicate where the escape of air is coming from.....Then it's a case of getting it pushed 'home'. Careful use of a hot-air gun might help to soften the elbow slightly to allow it to ease over the flap housing.

I found this thread very helpful, good pics which show the 2x 100mm silicone elbows that connect into the dashtop plenum as nawarne says...
