E46 Boot Carpet...

I have a 2002 E46 318i saloon, and I am slowly getting it up to a high standard: it is a low mileage car in excellent condition.

When I bought the car it was missing the boot carpet that covers the rear seat back bulkhead, so I sourced a decent s/h one ( albeit expensive !).

my question is:

Did these cars ever have carpet on the underside of the rear shelf ie beneath the rear window where the speakers sit ?

I use the car daily and put quite a bit of golf gear in the boot, and was wondering if there should be some sort of protection for the underside of the speakers etc.

IIRC no

Same with the E39s

But you could buy some of the sound deadening carpet and fit that with double sided tape if you need to protect your stuff etc

Thanks for the reply, I was thinking I may need to do that to protect the speaker magnets etc.
