Friend coming over from NZ for an extended trip - Cazoo

A friend is coming back to the UK in June for an extended trip and has asked me about Cazoo. I think he is thinking about buying a car from them; using it for the X months he is here; and then selling it on.

Can I ask anyone who has actually bought from them to relate their experiences - good or bad - so I can send him this link?

Has he got a UK licence? Because you'll struggle to insure on a NZ/International Permit.

That aside, Cazoo is ok to but from. Most reviews are favourable.

If he pays to dollar and buys something everyone wants then he’ll be able to sell it on easily when he leaves.

Or buy something left field, have fun, pay the premium in a hit at the end.

My Dad - a car dealer, who was quite close to an airport used to regularly get people asking if they could buy a car and sell it back to him in 2/4/6 months

It made it easy for them as they had a buyer on the last day of their trip

If he could sell a car for £5k and buy it back for £4k in a few months, he was happy

Might be worth calling a few local dealers

What an interesting idea. I used to work abroad and have quite often been on a situation where I've needed a car for a couple of months then needed to sell it on quickly. The maths doesn't stack up to rent that long, but buying then selling afyer a short time means taking a huge hit. There's got to be a better way of doing it surely, there must be market for people who need cars for 2 or 3 months then need to sell surely?

If an electric car will do, there's on.to that will do all inclusive on a monthly basis for around £500 - which would save the hassle with insurance companies!
