Hi,
Its my birthday on friday so i am going to treat myself and try to beef up the sound on my elise.
Having read the post on exhausts on here i seem to have 3 options, ranging from v.cheap to quite expensive.
I already have a flat air filter from k+n, doesnt do anything really.
1: K+N induction kit (davey s1 seems to like this) - £60
2: De-cat pipe (i really dont understand what this does, mpg change? noise change? -£30
3: new exhaust £300-450

Obviously the new exhaust is going to be the best but if i can get a 'good' but not great sound for £30-£60 then that will keep me happy for a while..
Advice appreciated..
Thanks

I can't see anywhere what car you have!?

I don't think you'll get much for £30-60 unfortunately. As an example, the 'preferred' induction kit (Hurricane) is £160.

If it's an S2 you've got, take a look at this...

www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?f=15&h=0&t=197405

and it compares my car pre-larini exhaust, and post.

Well worth the money (they're not cheap, £400 ish I think) but it transforms the car SO much!! (oh, and tunnels become even more fun)

Good luck!

As above a K&N 57i is the best mod you can do sound wise for £60.

It probably wont improve performance but the sound is great.

If worst comes to worst you can always flog it on ebay

buy both!!!

i've got a K&N and a Larini Clubsport exhaust on my S1, its the air filter that you can hear inside the car!! so, my 1st mod would be an induction kit, then buy the exhaust when you are feeling flush?

K&Ns sound nice on elises

Get the induction kit off ebay. Full induction kit for the elise and is better than the Hurricane kit. Brand new only £100. Sound fantastic. Many people on this forum agree.
