I’ve got an e46 330i sport touring with an annoying wheel vibration through the front wheels that I can’t get rid of. New tyres fitted along with brake discs and pads. Front control arms replaced along with rear bushes. Springs, shocks and top mounts replaced. Even had Hunter Roadforce wheel balancing done and still got a vibration at 70 mph and above.
I’ve lost the will to live with this problem and on the verge of selling.
Any ideas please?
Thanks 🙏

- Track rod ends
- Inner CV joints
- Wheel bearings
- New arms/thrust arms could have failed already (need to be removed to check for certain) etc

Basically; it could be all sorts!

Had similar with previous E39s; turned out to be the inner CV joints & track rod ends that were failing/seized etc

Also had similar issues with an F01 730D; that turned out to be the main thrust arms:

Click on the link 2nd post down to see how bad the ball joints were! They were 4months old; fitted before I bought the car; swapped them out with decent parts and all was well again!

Just because new parts have been fitted doesn't mean they're perfect; more so if they've not been fitted/torqued to spec with the suspension loaded and not hanging free etc

I’ve had the wheels refurbished, there was a slight vibration before but seems worse now. I’ve had them balanced 8 times by 6 different garages. And like like I said even by a Hunter Roadforce balancer that is supposed to recreate the forces on the tyres when driving. So is looking like something more sinister. Off to local bmw specialist next to see if they can help.

When the wheels were refurbed; did they keep the mating sufrace clear, or has that been powdercoated too?

If the latter, than it needs to be cleared of any powdercoat ASAP

It stops the transmission of heat when braking and can cause all sorts of weird issues
