I'm toying with the idea of selling a 1960 car and replacing it with something younger (but still definitely "classic"). If I do this, I'll have about £300,000 at my disposal.

Criteria for the replacement is simple. A beautiful classic that I can drive hard at the weekends and use in traffic during the week. Happy to consider something that has "non-original" bits to make it more modern as long as they're mostly invisible and under the hood.

The stuff Singer makes is unreal, but that's out of reach.

The 250 SWB recreation that GTO Engineering makes it superb, but I suspect that even if I could afford it, i'ts not "real thing enough" as not made by the manufacturer.

Hey, great post. Have you thought about a genuine Stratos? Maybe £300k gets you something that isn't caught up in the price frenzy? Or a Countach?
