Hi,
I am looking at buying a 2017 530i. I believe these have the B48 2.0 litre engine. Would anyone know if the 2017 manufactured engine would have a petrol particulate filter as I am led to believe some b48 engines have these?

Thanks in advance.

That 2017 model won't have one on it. They became mandatory in mid to late 2018 I believe. They are a nice car and my BIL had a 2017 530i too. I rated it when I had a go in it, and the ZF8 auto was a nice match to the engine I thought.

If it's helpful.....

I bought one of these back in October as a temporary run-around - 2017 plate, 530i SE. I'd usually have gone for M-Sport trim as they look so much better but I'm actually really enjoying comfy seats and a more compliant ride, particularly as it's just a daily driver. Mine's got the Comfort pack which I believe adds things like keyless entry, foot-wiggling boot opening and some other bits. Ideally I'd have liked some more toys but it has most of what I really need and it was in such good condition that I decided to go for it.

Something that might be worth mentioning though - I bought mine through BMW's AUC on 57k and noticed a real 'jolt' on cold start-up (mentioned here) which turned out to be worn engine mounts. These were replaced under the AUC warranty - a 5-6 hour job apparently so worth checking this if the one you're looking at is on similar mileage.

Mine also had a suspected dodgy coolant sensor so BMW also replaced the larger main coolant tank which has the sensor built-in. Again, this was done under warranty without issue. Other than that, the car's been great and I'm enjoying it far more than I thought I would.

Thanks for the quick review. I'm going to go see a 19 plate 530i in SE spec that's had a few extras specced on it on over the weekend. Hopefully it turns out to be suitable.
Didn't really want the M Sport as can do without the 19/20 inch wheels. This one has 18inch wheels and has covered 48k. I do about 8k a year so will see what it's like.
Will update when I can. Thank you again.

Hi,

Just an update. I purchase a 2019 530i se that I went to see and am very happy with the car. It is an April 2019 build and had a few extras that I was looking for mainly folding rear seats, upgraded sound system, electric boot and sports front seats.
I must say it is a big step up from the F10 I had previously and seems to be a lot more nimble. Happy days!
Thank you everyone for your advice.

Understandable that a G30 would be an improvement over the F10, but is it really a big step up?

Hi,
It's a big step up in regards to being a lot more lighter than the F10 which you really notice when you drive it. The F10 seemed to waft about a lot more whereas the G30 seems more poised and direct. The G30 just seems to be more sportier. The interior quality is also a lot better with no cheaper plastics in the lower areas where there used to be in the F10. These are, of course, just my opinions.

I also agree that the G30 feels quite a big step up from the F10. Feels more sure footed on the twisty bits and just feel everything seems a lot better. I’ve had previous generations and all do feel better than the last obviously but from f10to g30 feels a much bigger step up than it should.
For a now 6yr old design, it still looks fresh inside and out.
