Piece Hall as a concert venue, anyone been?
Discussion
Resurrecting this, as I have a concert there in June and would like a few drinks.
Has anyone been there and caught trains after the concert to Leeds, Bradford, Huddersfield or Manchester?
The timetables for June haven't been published yet, but I see 3 trains to Leeds, leaving Halifax after 23:00 currently on a Saturday night.
The local hotels are now over £200 for a night in the town centre (Premier Inn/Travelodge) so not great value
I'm assuming they probably won't go down in cost nearer to the event.
If the train is likely to be unviable I'll probably just suck it up and pay for a hotel.
(un)fortunately tickets were a Christmas present, so unable to book hotel when buying the tickets.
As an aside, as someone who grew up near there in the 70's/80's, it's great to see it being used a music venue. The council nearly demolished it!

Just info for anyone else going here.
Went to gig there last night. Doors lock at around 8pm so you can't get in (don't know if they actually applied this rule).
Also specify no rucksacks/bags etc.
Rocked up at around 7:30pm after eating at La Luna (booked for 6pm) - the waiter helpfully advised just having a main course as it would be tight for getting in to gig otherwise.
Small 10/15 minute queue to get in whilst they check handbags, coats etc (Eastgate entrance - they allocate your entry point with the ticket).
Easily managed to get within 20 metres in front of the stage.
Actually stayed at Fortune Hotel in Ainley Top which was a lot cheaper than Halifax town centre. Bus stop is right down New Hey road and down some steps - less than 5 mins walk from the hotel
Managed to get bus to and from concert no problem. (receptionist warned us that being Eid, taxis and Ubers may be long waits and expensive)
Last bus 501 from Halifax Bus station - 11:10
Concert finished 10:45 and exit from the venue and walk to bus station was < 10 minutes.
Train station is also really close to Eastgate entrance, so guess that is also possible if you needed to stay elsewhere.
Lovely open-air venue with a natural slope down towards the stage so I would think decent views all the way back.
Not sure how easy it was to get to the bars as it was full and people saying long queues. I didn't bother as already had had a few
