Brazillian Family all over the news...

Perhaps I am too cynical, but the cousin has been on the News again calling for the resignation of Sir Ian Blair etc etc.

I know everyones a bit riled up over this incident for all sorts of reasons-

but whether you are "pro-or anti" police in this matter or just waiting for the real facts...

a tiny amount of sympathy for his family wouldnt go amiss.

I do feel sorry for the family, as any sane person would, but I can't help but think they have pound signs as motivation for this, more than anything else. ESPECIALLY as lawyers are involved!

I do have sympathy for his family, but my sixth sense is telling me that some of them at least, and in particular the cousin, are seeing £ signs....

There's no doubting the grief of the family - it was a sudden and extremely violent death.

I expect the vast majority of the british population are sympathetic.

It doesn't stop us being suspiscious either. IIRC the family were discussing compensation with the media VERY quickly...

Not got a huge problem with the family being plastered all over TV right now - I'd hope for the same airtime to express my views if I was a family member of a terrorist victim, but I have a major problem with the flood of jumped up little NUS types coming out of the woodwork. There was one bloke from Justice4Jean (!), who I swear was on the box the other day as the mouthpiece of the National Friendly Muslim COuncil for Students or somesuch...

I'm just wondering if there'd be as much "outrage" and compensation grabbing, if the situation had been reversed so that a Brit tourist had been shot by a Brazilian cop on some bungled drugs bust?

I would have thought that in some parts of Brazil having someone you know killed in a violent way was a fact of life.

Ist very tragic event in lives of that family.. und there appear to lot of conflicting report as to how this tragedy occurred. Ist part of problem as in ploice car chase to some extent - person in "management role" removed from scene ist giving order based on hearsay information.. und ist clearly not right as lead to very bad judgement call und intelligence appears to have been non-existent per these media reports (und we do not know how true all this ist.) I would prefer the media to back off until all facts are known und just report fact und leave the editor to lead the opinion comment.

In the press conference yesterday the guy next to the cousin was id'd as an advisor to Mr G Galloway of the Respect Party and the woman on the right was involved in some Anti Iraq war movment.

So they are politicised advisors...it stinks

I wonder how much compensation the beheaded victims' families have got out of the Iraqi goverment? I am sure I even heard one UK spokesman say something along the lines of, It was their (victims) choice to come over to Iraq, they must have known the dire consequences. Gee thanks for that then!
When the boot's on the other foot, the left wing lawyers and politicos can't bend over backwards enough, and we end up paying compensation from our taxes due to both the police's incompetence, and the fact that this poor guy shouldn't have been in the UK in the first place! Woulkd the Brazilian government take notice if a British family came over there demanding compensation? No, of course not, the victim's family know this, and however much I try, I cant help thinking this is a means to an end, not for justice, but money, if that's true, it stinks!

On the question of compensation,ime wondering if it is be more profitable to be shot by the MET or blown up by Terrorists,i think its £11,000 if you get blown up by a terrorist(TV reports).
