So it turns out my recently acquired XKR first belonged to Chris Harris which tickles me a bit. 'Big Red' is adorned with every available extra including the 'Speed' and 'Black' packs. Happy days!

Evo article here: https://www.evo.co.uk/jaguar/xkr/11542/chris-harri...

YT video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZKw0QLJy6o

Cheers guys - hope to catch some of you at the PHSS on Sunday.

That is really rather awesome! At least you know it was gently run in :-)

Beautiful looking car, look forward to hearing how you get on with it.

Cool. So was it a Jaguar press car? Seems it was an Evo long termer or was it his personal car?

Thanks for the replies chaps - I’m keen to find out the full story around the XKR’s origins but haven’t got very far yet apart from the above links and this article https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/jaguar/xkr-s-... which might support the press car idea. I have messaged the Harris himself via IG but haven’t had a response as yet. I won’t hold my breath!
Anyway, I’m really enjoying the car so far but very wary of all that power to the rear wheels. It’s quite a handful!

I have a feeling as a petrol head he may reply, he doesn't seem overly up his own, despite his fame....

Great choice by the way.

Loved my XK and always looking for the right one at the right price. Hopefully soon.

If you want to keep that aluminium body perfect, just make sure you clear behind the arch lip with a jet spray every wash as crap does build up behind.

Top tip there, thanks! Good luck with your search - what are your criteria for 'the one'? smile

Not 100% sure but I believe all JLR press cars are registered with OE as the first part of there registration coming under the Oxford DVLA office.
Sorry forgot to add, looks a cracking car.

That’s an interesting point because I’ve seen a couple of XKRs with an OE registration.

If it was an Evo Long Term car (as it was) then it's a Jag press car, not Harris' personal wheels. Long term test cars are usually used on the main press launch, then they'll keep some for the press fleet and a few will go out as long termers. Some will go on to be management cars.

That makes sense. Mind you, I also recently found this (really rather dull) video about Mr Harris taking the XKR to a car wash: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IEucVVy4HoM Clearly he was doing a camera test but I think it shows that he thought of the car as his! biglaugh
