The Filthy Growler - Jag XJ8 Sovereign

For the mirror, you can pull off the part at the bottom where the puddle light is. A load of dirt will probably come out once you remove it. Then, you can clean it with a wire brush and spray cleaner while someone else moves the mirror all the way forward and back multiple times. You can then spray it with grease once it's clean.
It's a very common issue on these cars and extremely easy to fix.

Looks lovely, that's peak X350, the X356 updates got rid of the naff rubbing strips and really cleaned the car up, and it's the Goldilocks engine too. As the watch tossers say, "enjoy it it good health"
The bonnet clip thing is very common, many that you see have the nearside bonnet improperly latched. I fixed mine by just fiddling with the latch position for 20 minutes but if the bonnet pull is stiff replace the cable before it snaps.

Excellent explanation for the acquisition. Having owned an XJ Sport and 2 Rover 75. I think the excellent fit and finish of XJ makes the decent luxury on a budget 75 interior look like a bit s
t. The 75 was a car less than half the price of the XJ but you really notice the difference in attention to detail, fit and finish etc.

Very smart, indeed. The 4.2 is a peach of an engine - my fave V8 of the four I've owned.
Are they just about the most reliable and oil tight V8 made in the last 20 years? Compared to the German stuff and all the oil leaks, timing chain dramas etc etc. Nice Sov. I prefer the X308 but they're just that bit too old now methinks.
