Had to phone EasyJet yesterday on an 087 number and they charged 65p/min:eek:

Someone in my office pointed me to http://www.saynoto0870.co.uk/search.php which will give you alternative numbers for companies, including 0800 numbers or geographical numbers (normal rates etc)

Thought Id share that with you lot :)

Useful site, but did you get any joy for Easy Jet? Just tried their alternative number search, with and without a space between the words, and no joy

Worked a treat for Comet though

No, got told about this after contacting Easyjet, though I did call an alternative number for them at 'only' 10ppm and got the answer from them, however, I was on hold for at least 5 minutes

Thank you very much.

I'm getting more and more pi$$ed of with organisations taking a cut of my calls to them.

Started with a Vauxhall dealer....

And now my mother's DOCTOR has joined the gravy train.....

Notice how they keep you waiting for much longer now.......?

Pernicious scammers, the lot of 'em.......

My local surgery tried this, and they've been told to stop it! apparently it's against the rules to charge a "premium/national/non geographic" rate to contact them. Complain, and they will have to change it back.

Thought 0870 was national rate, not premium?

Hoever, 0870 and 0845 numbers are a pain if you have a calling package - I can call any standard (01, 02) number for free, but have to pay for 08.

One dodge is to use the number they list for calls from overseas (if they have one) as 08s don't work from outside the UK.

Well I needed to phone Orange because my phone wasn't working, to this end I couldn't use the 150. Went on there, got a freephone number, Bob's everyones uncle.

We got some "free" tickets off ryan air but we had to call up to arrange the details. 70p a min plus the tax and insurance. Would have been cheaper to buy them!

What's to stop Joe Public setting up a 0845/0870 number and making it a primary contact when dealing with banks, utility companies and anyone not friends and family?

More likely it was an 09 number, as 08 numbers are for cheapo/free calls?
