Hey all,

I'm just curious, what does it take to get into a dealer's good books so you have a good chance of getting the special edition Porsches (GT2/GT3s etc...)

Does it vary dealer by dealer and is there a strategy in choosing a dealership to start a relationship with?

(I'm wanting to possibly buy 3 x Porsches (Turbo S, Macan and Taycan) over the next 1-2 years so would be good to know before I place the first order)

Thanks

A new car every 3 months or so is my guess. Wife, kids, self etc so easy to do if enough family members and money of course!

Be quicker and easier just to let the wife give the DP a blowie.

Why on earth would you ever go to these lengths just to get a Porsche?

Telling them you want to buy 3 cars over the next few years won’t cut it - if the DP runs out of friends ( doesn’t seem to be happening yet ) then if you are really lucky he may tell you what cars to buy before he will consider you a new friend.
Stories exist of some people with no history getting an allocation so I may be completely wrong or the brown envelope that handed over was perhaps quite large.

Better to buy a 'Special' used car.

Jealous about what? Doing all this just to grease a DP's hand with no guarantee that it will get you a model you're after is laughable. Better off just buying on overs.

Not if you want new at the spec you want and to be the only owner.

I think someone on here had bought 7 cars over the last 3 years or so and then got a 992GT3 allocation.

If you really want a new one then there’s no time to lose leading up to 2030. Go and buy a used GT4 from an OPC and ask them to give you a call when they have a used 991GT3 next in. Buy that and something else, then have a conversation about it. Who knows??

Often there are other conditions as well as buying lots of ‘normal’ cars. Such as you will need to PX your existing GT car to get an allocation. This will be £30k-40k below the level they will retail it at. Additionally you may also be required to have Porsche finance, even if you don’t need finance.

I don’t understand the obsession with owning new and being the only owner.

It’s so much easier and less hassle to just buy a used one.

Buying umpteen cars to get the one you actually want seems so utterly pointless.

It’s more of a preference than an obsession I would say. I consider myself to be super careful when it comes to cars and, as a consequence, it’s virtually impossible to find anything used in the condition that I would want (ie; indistinguishable from new) so the the only answer is a new one.

Thanks for the comments.

I wouldn't be buying the 'normal' cars just to get into one of the 'special' ones. However, IF I do end up going down the route of a few Porsches over the next couple of years; I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything.

This. Not sure why it's suddenly an obsession. I am not fortunate enough to to have the millions of spare cash like some I know in the game. They dont have cars they don't want either. A couple of them run turbos as dailies, wife with cayennes, parents with something else, plus they but all the RS's/GT3's...

It’s not just about what you have to spend, it’s also what it costs you.

The financial contributions are one thing, of course.
But then you must consider the cost to your soul.

Do you really want to do those things for and to the dealer staff?
