ASDA Tyre Safety Advice Website Any Thoughts?

The Asda Tyre Expert blog's advice on tyre safety has a tale with this premise: You buy a set of brand new quality (presumably Continental) tyres. You damage one of those tyres and the Devil entices you to buy a cheaper tyre that differs 'slightly' in spec from the remaining three. The whole page - there is more - is a lame attempt to write a technical article.
This, and a whole lot more, may "Seriously" Happen to You:
"Ultimately, if you use mismatched tyres, you’ll seriously put your vehicle at risk of damaged wheel bearings. There’s even an increased chance of destroying the clutch. This will not only risk your driver safety – and that of your fellow motorists – it will also hurt your bank balance. Nobody wants to have to pay for parts and repairs, right?"

A tyre that's underinflated heats the air to such a degree that it explodes?
Really, is this what we are teaching our kids :-)

Volvo v70 AWD models actually suffered damaged differentials if you put different tread depth tyres on, as you might with a punctured tyre that's not repairable and the others have 4-5mm left so you buy a single new tyre with 8-9mm. The flexing creates heat and also puts magnitudes more stress in all the internal belts. The air in a tyre is a structural element. Take that away and the tyre can fail.
The first article is also talking about mismatched tyre sizes eg. fitting a single 205/60 r15 tyre on a car with 195/65 r15 on the other three wheels, not fitting a slightly different tyre of the same size.

t tyre sellers tell potential customers, to sell them anything on their shelves. It's not new, and it's not right.But it is rampant.
