Siouxsie. An icon returns…
Discussion
Anyone else excited for the return to the stage of the legendary Siouxsie Sioux !! Can’t just be me ?
Maybe not for everyone, maybe not the most technically gifted vocalist but definitely a voice that is unmistakable as it soars above the roar of the crowd and cuts into you in ways you weren’t expecting……many of her lyrics come from dark places and experiences but ultimately she is triumphant. You tend to forget just how many brilliant and original hits she’s had from either The Banshees, The Creatures or flying solo
Only one date so far, second on the bill to George Ezra, Sunday night at Latitude. I’ll be getting a day ticket. I’m hoping there will be more dates or even some low key warm up shows ! Prior to her ultimate live work - “Dreamshow” at the Royal Festival Hall in 2004 she did a very short notice warm up gig at the 100 Club……not the whole Dreamshow ensemble as there would be room for the orchestra and Kodo drummers etc
……and wouldn’t it be sensational if John McKay turns up and straps on a guitar. He was the first rock guitarist to leave a mark on me……well, more like a scar as his playing on Hong Kong Garden was like falling into a hedge made of barbed wire !

Only ever saw them the once, 1978 when I was 12.
Second gig after an X-Ray Spex matinee.
Still think The Scream sounds great after all this time.
I wouldn’t argue with that…..The versions of those tracks found on ‘At The BBC’ compilation are particularly special for being so well recorded and preserved

Fingers crossed she’s ok vocally as although very distinctive she wasn’t always technically great as her form was a little inconsistent and did miss the odd note hear and there when singing live……. Never really bothered me but now at 65 years and 8 years dormant that can be a challenge for anyone.

I hope she does some other appearances as I've loved her music for years ever since I bought Once Upon a Time when it came out.
I'm too old for festivals now, and can't stand George Ezra!
If I get a day ticket I’ll be heading for the car park while George does his bit…….going to be an expensive day thoughI'm too old for festivals now, and can't stand George Ezra!
