The only player I bought a shirt for. One of my favourites and a truly top class player and man by all accounts.

Really sad news.

He was a great striker, probably world class back in his earlier Sampdoria/Juventus days, and a from what I can gather a really nice bloke.

yes

First saw him in his days up front with Roberto Mancini at Sampdoria. Terrific partnership. IIRC competing in the era of van Basten etc.

A sad loss indeed.

RIP.

It's a big loss to European football but what a mark he made in his life.

In his playing career his goal scoring record was 1 goal in every 3 games.......for 20 years.

He was also, luckily, married to one of the most beautiful women in the world and had two daughters.

Premier League Football Manager description for Vialli quite rightly, reads 'Legendary Striker'.

When the ball hits the back of the Old Trafford net, it's Vialli,
When the scousers are blue cos the score is 4-2, it's Vialli

(To the tune of 'that's amore')

RIP Gianluca
