Sounds great. However I'm confused. What regulations does this car have to meet?

Low Volume Type Approval fits the bill if you are going to register less than 500 vehicles per year. A sort of SVA for manufacturers. More details at www.vca.gov.uk.

Hugh

So that'll mean the Cerbera MK2 with AJP8 can be produced?
. . . as long as TVR stays within 500 cars per year . . .

Question is, will you buy one?

If TVR did some designs up of a new Cerbera...

Lets say the got 20 orders down - I can see it happening possibly then...

But otherwise it'll be a risk, even though many of us regard the Cerbera V8 as the best TVR ever, we have to remember, they didnt sell many! And wheeler did claim 'the cerbera was my worst mistake'.....

lol

Now you're taking the mick...

I wander, what if TVR just stuck AJPV8's into the Tuscan 3 and Sagaris 2..... now that would be interesting.... The handling in the saggy is supposedly sublime, add the fire of the AJPV8 - and we could very easily have a TOP contender for GT....

...which is why they're a guaranteed classic IMHO. Imagine car history books in 40 years time. The Cerbera will be the equivalent then of what 350GT Lambos are now.

The Cerbera was TVR's first thoroughbred. After ten years of production f**k all can catch one. Think about that... none of the Italian exotica were in production (in barely evolved form), or held a crown, for that long.

And the punchline of every article will be "...and Peter Wheeler regarded the Cerbera as his worst mistake". What a fantastic story.

Sure, make a new V8 2+2, maybe 32V or supercharge an AJP8, but don't make a "Cerbera Mk2". The Typhon badge still awaits a car to stick it on...

Got to agree that the Cerbera is a classic, and while it would great to have a viable replacement - I wouldn't call it a Cerbera - II or otherwise. Never liked the idea of just hanging on to a name as a form of branding when the car itself changes. IMHO Porsche should have stopped using 911 when the 964 came out - in my book, 911s didn't have ABS, power steering and traction! Would have been better to use 964, 996, 997 etc.

So, if TVR do another V8 and/or 2+2, then lets not 'corrupt' the Cerbera name. Up to individuals if they still call theirs a Cerbera after extensive mods. After the tvrolet (tuscan/chevrolet) I'm temped to look at the posisbility of a cerbrolet...buy it wouldn't be a Cerbera...which 'needs' an AJP up front.

WB

and if I'm being honest, in my view a Cerbera should only have 2 headlamps - one each side - in a pod. The tuscanesque-fronted ones should be Cerbera IIs IMHO..treated as not quite as 'classic' in looks as the original. As for 'updating' one of the elegant originals with 4 (or worse, 6) lights.....noooooooooo

A Typhon with a 5L AJP8 32v, yep that'd do it

No extra valves needed IMHO.

Interesting one. IMHO about right. I think that the only current alternative is a 456.

It wouldn't fit . . .

5 litre AJP8 in a 'Cerbera Mk2', badged as Typhon . . . 2+2 that is . . . Ben, are you taking notes . . . or . . . is that exactly what we might expect for autumn?

Sadly those with nothing but green thoughts in their heads probably wouldn't agree! To get through the new emissions laws, it'd probably need 32v.

Such a lump would be nice to see in the Typhon. Go on Nik, you know you want to! (Might want to try giving a chap called Al a call, too....)

Odited two korrect spulling mostakes...

The TVR range for 2007 according to Dinkel Smolenski
- Tamora Mk2, 2.5 litre 4 inline 16v dohc: ±250 horses
- Tuscan Mk2/3, 3.6 and 4.0 AJP6: 360 and 400 horses
- Tuscan Mk2/3S, 4.0 and 4.2 AJP6: 400 and 440 horses
- Sagaris Mk1/2, 4.0 and 4.2 AJP6: 400 and 440 horses
- Cerbera Mk2, 4.2 AJP6: 440 horses
- Cerbera Mk2S, 5.0 AJP8 dohc 32v: 475 horses

T350 stops when 500 cars have been produced . . . sorry!

The new Tammy is low specced and is the entry model, black only.

Tuscan has the Targa option. T440 - I think it's a stunner - but hey, how long must we wait: I dropped it . . .

I think there's enough cash to convert the AJP8 to one of the best V8s the auto-industry has ever seen. When NS can buy Benelli . . .

Too right mate!

But seriously though, hands up if you think Nicks listening????

What a waste of pistonheads bandwidth if all these brainstorms dont even get within a mile of him

Once upon a time, TVR's had big BHP.

Nowadays it seems to be more on styling and improved dynamics with it possible to get a lot more bhp from nasty German barges.

IF a AJP8 in various sizes existed between 400 and 600+bhp, then TVR would be top of the bonkers pile again. Sheesh, Marcos are (or will be soon) offering 485bhp for 50k.

I do wonder as to where now for TVR engines in the future (I WAS at the talk on Sunday which gave me the impression that a good V8 (AJP8) can give more power for less ££ than a 6 clinder engine). Other than Supercharging the SP6...?

Maybe I should stop caring and get adding up how much it would cost to update my Griff to a 600 . Better add some aero enhancements to stop it taking off though!

The Griff could not even handle a 4.2 AJP - they tried it.. it was just a little too wild.

275 bhp was enough (5ltr RV8) - 350 (AJP) was just too much

I think there are a few griffs around packing more than 350hp already. Jeesh I've got 300+bhp in a Tasmin!

Making a sound and reliable 400-500 horse engine is quite an achievement. Which 'small' carfactory did that in recent history?

I guess not many are waiting for a 400hp+ lump in their cars . . . A 4.5 RR Cerb is one of the fastest so what do you want? Wheelspin in 6th? AWD

Speculation, surely? I don't accept that the power was too much for the Griffith, I think it's just that TVR decided to take a different route.
