Sad news from France so soon after the loss of Patrick Tambay. Philippe Streiff has died aged 67.

Super quick in F3 and F2 before an F1 career with Tyrrell and Ligier. Good Le Mans CV also. All came to a sad end with a pre-season testing crash in Brazil that rendered him quadraplegic.

However he then did great work benefitting disability charities. RIP.

He was a very quick man in his time, and also spent most of his F1 career in lesser teams, achieving very good results, his work with disability like many in that field is worthy of mention, and his passing is a shock

A good man and a fine driver . Fond memories of him in the Ligier Renault at Brands European GP in 1985 . Fantastic Gitanes livery - so much classier than bloody Marlboro , if a cruel smoke. And that V6 turbo bellowing up to Hawthorn was proof that not every turbo is quiet ....

Aye, I was there too, but we had to wait until Japan 1993 for the greatest Ligier Gitanes livery :

Genuinely saddened of his passing. He was the organiser of the Paris Bercy Elf Kart Masters event which had 90s F1 drivers competing in karts. The event was the last time we saw Senna and Prost racing each other.
