Company car V5 details
Discussion
Struggling a bit with insurance, can anyone advise?
The car is registered in the company's name on the V5 and I collect it Saturday.
I've spoken to some mainstream insurers like Direct Line, but they want to the car to be insured under my name (though they recognise it's owned by the limited company).
Can anyone assist? I want to stay on the right side of the accounting but am struggling to get the insurance in the company name.

I’m really surprised you can’t find insurance based on the owner not being yourself. The car is registered in the company's name on the V5 and I collect it Saturday.

I’ve insured many cars over the years that are either leased or company owned, as me being the main driver.
Go onto Compare the Meerkats, enter all the usual details, then under policy details- car, there is a drop down section for both owner and registered keeper. There is about six options, one being ‘company’, and another ‘policy holder’.
You should get a whole list of insurers quoting based on your circumstances from there

I imagine the temptation to think, "If this idiot can't use a website with drop down menus - how can he be trusted to drive?", was rather strong.
Have a great new year.

My previous model X was insured in my name even though it was owned by my ltd company. I just paid with the company credit card. We have a fleet policy but they were being idiots about a tracker. Ironically direct line were half the price of Alliance (fleet insurance)The car is registered in the company's name on the V5 and I collect it Saturday.

The way I read it the OP wants the company to be the policyholder.I’ve insured many cars over the years that are either leased or company owned, as me being the main driver.

He suggests due to accounting reasons - I've no idea if this is a real issue or not.

Was the Alliance policy a "proper" company car policy? Usually they cover anyone driving the car on company business and may cover any driver for personal use with the company's permission - quite a bit different to the consumer orientated policy from DL.Sheepshanks said:

Yea, proper fleet policy. They weren’t happy with the Tesla fitted tracker system. Named drivers over 30 only due to it being the ludicrous version.OP - just have the insurance in your own name and get your company to reimburse you. Just make sure they know you will use it for business use and not just commuting.
