I'm looking for some help identifying a steering wheel I have had kicking about. I was gifted it a long time ago and apparently it was given to someone after a race by a notable racing driver. I'm guessing it's not possible to verify that at this stage.

Anyway photos below and any help greatly appreciated, would be nice to know it's possible origins (type of car, era etc) if possible. Thanks smile

Iirc Birrell raced Fords predominantly. Otherwise looks a bit Jag-ish.

Looks like an Mota-Lita - more likely if the mount is 9 x 4" (101.6mm)

The mounting boss will be the key to identifying what brand it came from, partly by the spline count, partly by other dimensions.

As well as racing Birrell also ran a motor accessory shop so would have bought items to resell, so could be almost anything.

I'd suggest contacting Mota-Lita with details of the mounting boss and see if they can help identify it.

The story attributed would need further research, starting with the person who gifted it to you.
