Larger folks and the NC

Before I get out and try one, am I wasting my time?

I'm not a small guy, at 6'3 and 100kg. Do I have any hope of getting into an NC with the stock seats?

Go try one, it'll be a bit tight, but you could fit in. I'm 6' 1 1/2 and fit in one ok, but there is more to it than that (leg to body ratio).
It's the biggest one they did, so if you don't it in an NC then forget MX5s.

Thank you. I remember packing myself into an ex's NB to drive it, but it was uncomfortable for more than 15min. I just had hard plastics digging into every part of me!

If you are set on getting one, and headroom is a bit of an issue, Jass Performance sell seat lowering brackets than can give a few extra inches.

A friend of mine is 6 foot 4 and in excess of 150 kilos. It really is funny watching him trying to fit in my NC. He does manage it, just, but there is no way he would drive one himself. Another is 6 foot 6 but a skinny bugger and he fits but his legs are too long for it to be comfortable, again he would not choose one as transport. I am 5 foot 4 and fit in OK

Is your friend's 'girth' the barrier to driving it?

Very much so, But he is massive. The skinny one is just too long in the leg.

I remember trying to fit in an NB too, couldn't shut the door as it bounced off my knee, which was tight against the steering wheel. Same as an E type too.

I'm 5 foot 8"... own and have an NC as a daily driver. I would not like to be any taller as the seat would be right back against the bulkhead and be rubbing making noises it would drive you nuts

Really depends how you are built, c70 in figures I'm exactly your size, but I'm sure we'd be different 'specs' I fit in my nb fine & it's got buckets & I've had tons of na's no probs to fit, never been in an nc but did think an nd a bit snug.

Key for me is an aftermarket dished wheel, had on all mine, just horrible without, right in the way & hard to drive & impossible to h&t

Key for me is an aftermarket dished wheel, had on all mine, just horrible without, right in the way & hard to drive & impossible to h&t

I really don't want to go to buckets on this car, sadly. I fear this might limit me somewhat.

I want something I can do roadtrips in, and after ruining my excellent Mini by turning it into a pretend racing car, I want some creature comforts this time around.

They are worse for space tbh, it's much tighter than stock nb seats.

6'4" with 34" inseam and 100kg here - I drive a ragtop NC without issues. All I had to do was slightly modify the handbrake mount so it doesn't poke me in the knee.

I don't really fit in the NB/ND cars I've driven, but have done 5 hour motorway drives in my NC without any notable discomfort. Like others have suggested it's more to do with your leg/torso ratio, mine fits like a glove with the seat all the way back against the bulkhead (you just have to put up with a little squeaking).

If I were about 2cm taller my head would touch the reinforcing bars in the roof, if I ever roll it I'll be in a world of trouble

We're almost identical shapes/sizes, so this is promising news.

I'm 6'1 and a similar weight.

I'm a 32" inside leg so slightly longer in body and I have to say my NC Sport was one of the most comfortable cars I've ever driven (with the roof down).

Roof up was a bit of a squeeze with my (short) hair grazing the roof but I never really felt as if the car was too small.

Sadly when I test drove an ND it was fractionally smaller.
