Auction end time

A well known car sales website who more recently adopted an auction function, appears to freely add up to 18+ minutes onto an auction end time in 3 minute additions until they are satisfied with the price achieved - is this legally compliant?

I have no beef, just curious as I observed an auction draw to a close only to keep going and going.

Is quite common, DVLA reg auctions do it with 30 minute extensions.

to be honest, sellers would achieve better prices on conventional auction sites if they added time onto the end. thats how actual auctions work - they dont end the auction right in the middle of a bidding war!?!
