Hi, I'm currently looking for secure indoor storage in the Glasgow/Paisley area for my Porsche for the next few months until I can get my current garage extended to accommodate a second car. Ideally somewhere with a suitable environment that allows reasonable access around the car for routine starts and to minimize the risk of damage and also with the option to have the car maintained on a battery conditioner. I'd like to check on it every few weeks as well so that's another factor I need to consider.

I've done the usual research online and there appears to be limited options around the Glasgow/Paisley area and there's very little in the way of reviews/feedback for most. I've also looked online at local general storage facilities but these do not appear to offer indoor storage for vehicles. I've even considered renting a small commercial/industrial unit or lock up but the options are either limited or not cost effective.

Any recommendations or advice would be much appreciated.

Not Glasgow/Paisley-based, but near enough that you could get there in under an hour - Mark Spiers at Car Storage Scotland just off the Edinburgh city bypass.

I've used them half a dozen times, cars are all indoors, Mark is very friendly and the car can go onto a battery conditioner or in one of those carcoon things, also some top-end machinery about to ogle at too.

Thanks for the recommendation. The Options around Glasgow seem limited so this may be good option and not too far from home

A search on Gumtree usually reveals things like this, I recall coming across a few previously in this area. One that stuck was in the Southside but can't recall name/where.

Thanks for the reply. I've been doing the occasional search on Gumtree, Facebook, etc. but there's been nothing suitable recently. I think I remember looking at the garage on the Southside but something put me off, can't remember what now, possibly no power available but I can't be sure. I've had a recommendation for Caledonian Car Storage in Ayrshire so this may be an option.

Never used them.
I just happened to be sitting waiting on my wife finishing work and this place is across the road.
Near to the Govan Asda, across from the police station.

Thanks, I've had a look at the website and I may make some enquiries. I was looking at Caledonian Car Storage in Ayrshire but it seems they're fully booked at the moment. The search continues but I now have a couple of options to explore.

In their old Rutherglen location the storage cars used to be kept in the same warehouse as their wedding rental cars, which meant a lot of traffic (people constantly in and out looking around all of the cars) and constant shuffling around of cars. The keys were often left in the cars which I was told was in case there was a fire so they could empty the warehouse quickly, I see the point but not sure it'd sit well with me.

Just a couple of things I'd query at their current venue if considering using.

Obviously not close but there is Route 71 in Galston Ayrshire which does car storage.

You can contact them on Facebook.

Thanks for the feedback and comments, it's appreciated. I don't want a lot of traffic or people shuffling past the car so hopefully I can get somewhere with enough room to easily get access to give it the occasional start during storage and it can sit mostly undisturbed with minimal chance of any damage.

I've had a look at Route 71 and sent them a message, so will see if they reply. I can't find any reviews online and there's not much info on the website either but the photos of the facility look promising.

Hoping to get this sorted within the next couple of weeks but it's proving more difficult than I anticipated. I'm still considering Car Storage Scotland near Edinburgh, if they any spaces available, but would prefer something closer to home if possible. Thanks for all the feedback to date.

Route 71 are relatively new and I only noticed them as I moved to the area recently from Edinburgh. I went to their open day in the summer and they have big plans for the place. Owner is really nice to speak to as well.

The good thing is that although they have open weekends, the cars are all cordoned off to make sure people do not get close to them so shows the attention to detail they have and the respect they have for your vehicle.

Hope you manage to get yourself sorted out, unfortunately my own garage is full at present otherwise would have offered to help you out.

Thanks for the additional info and it seems Route 71 would meet my requirements. I sent a message yesterday on Facebook and sent a WhatsApp message earlier today but no reply to date, so will see it plays out. If this option fails I'll be looking further afield by the looks of it.

Just for info., I had a reply from Route 71 and the car storage facility is now closed permanently. It was worth a try though, so thanks for the lead.

They are closed till April for their monthly Sunday meets ,so that may be why they closed the place they don't want people going round checking up on their cars on a regular basic.TBH just take your battery out and keep it at home that way you don't a need place with power.

Just to close out this post, I think I've got storage sorted now at Auto Boutique. Hopefully this works and my car can stay in storage until my garage extension is completed. Thanks for all the feedback and comments.

That sounds rather pish, especially for £105+VAT per month.

I've always found it odd that many car storage places are seemingly lax when it comes to security, with any old Joe + mates able to walk in a browse around.

Hi, Yes, all very positive. Very secure location, run by car enthusiasts who are very helpful and accommodating. I’m fussy and still using Auto Boutique to store my car. Highly recommended.
