Hi all,

I recently bought a 2014 Mazda3 manual, which I really like. Over the last week or so, the gears have started to grind a little while changing up. Changing down though seems to be as you would expect.

There's no air in the clutch and the gearbox oil is fine. 46,000 miles on the clock. I'm a bit of an amateur when it comes to transmission faults, so any help would be appreciated! 🙂

Check for any play in the linkage.

Thanks for the reply. It went back to the dealer and they denied that there was anything wrong with the car, so I have rejected it

It had progressed to being the same changing up or down. They called it a "characteristic"of the car, so I told them if that was true, they would never sell any.

There is a TSB on this issue on these cars somewhere on the interweb.

Linkage goes out of adjustment, rotationally. If that was the problem it's a 10min fix.

Don't blame you for rejecting it though. Don't want gearbox probs with a new car.

Yes, they do seem to have some issues. Pity really, as it was a lovely car. I decided to reject it as it wasn't going to get any better and I was within the magic 30 days of purchase.
