Now that it’s minimum £1 for pumping up your tyres at our local fuel station, and partly driven through convenience, I was wondering if any of these small tyre inflators are any good / accurate enough? Was going to keep my eye out on Black Friday, but wanted to check I wasn’t wasting my time with these.

Any recommendations appreciated!

This is my review of the Sealey CTI 120:

Might be an idea to wait until Black Friday deals in a week or two. I have 3 of these and bought the subsequent ones using a 20% off code on eBay.

There are other portable ones available now from companies such as Ring.

MANY of them are really good & extremely accurate.

Ring are a brand that come highly recommended.

Get one with a digital display rather than mechanical gauge, they are far more robust.

I have used one of these for years.

I've had one of these for a few years:

https://www.vonhaus.com/vh_en/12v-tyre-inflator

A good quality product; should be available elsewhere at a lower price.

Thanks for the recommendations all, good to know there are some worth getting and like the idea of the rechargeable ones. Hopefully some pop up on Black Friday!

I'm also looking at these. My BMW doesn't have a spare, and isn't on runflats. It's got a can of gunge but I want an inflator.

There's one in my OH's car, a Ring RAC 601 I bought her, which works, but I don't entirely trust its accuracy, it's not that fast, it makes a hell of a noise, and it just feels to me as if it's going to vibrate itself to death.

I'd never considered a cordless option. That's a great idea. Especially as both my cars need the engine running to use the 12v socket.

I bought one of these a couple of weeks ago:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/393907139955

It says refurbed, but apart from the box having a couple of scuffs, the actual inflator appears brand new. And its seriously fast.

I have one of these:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Xiaomi-Portable-Electric-...

as well as a Ring 12v one.

I find both to be accurate and work well.

The battery one is very convenient to check pressure and top up a few psi, you can leave it hanging off the tyre to do its thing. The only downside is that if you have large tyres, and need more than a few psi, it takes a while, so would be no good for fully inflating a car tyre. It's also excellent for bicycle tyres.

I use DeWalt cordless power tools, so buying one of these was a no-brainer.

https://www.screwfix.com/p/dewalt-dcc018n-xj-18v-l...

It runs off an 18v DeWalt battery. I have no idea whether it’s spot on accurate, but it’s close enough, and at least my tyres have the same pressure in them!

Downside is that it’s a bit big to carry in the car.

I've had one of these for years, will fully inflate a typical car tyre from flat in just over a minute.
It has croc clips straight to the car battery, too much current for most cig lighters, the gauge isn't brilliant so i over inflate a tad then check accurately with a proper gauge.
Think i paid about £60, hopefully someone might find it cheaper towards Black Friday or from elsewhere.

Curious what you use for a ‘proper’ gauge?

Very easy to read.

If you are already in the Makita 18v eco-system it’s a no brainer to get their tyre inflator.

I have a small mains powered compressor and air tank in the garage which I had for years and is still working fine. When it packs in I will be replacing it with a Makita 18v tyre inflator.
