Tyre inflators
Discussion
Now that it’s minimum £1 for pumping up your tyres at our local fuel station, and partly driven through convenience, I was wondering if any of these small tyre inflators are any good / accurate enough? Was going to keep my eye out on Black Friday, but wanted to check I wasn’t wasting my time with these.
Any recommendations appreciated!

This is my review of the Sealey CTI 120:

Might be an idea to wait until Black Friday deals in a week or two. I have 3 of these and bought the subsequent ones using a 20% off code on eBay.
There are other portable ones available now from companies such as Ring.

MANY of them are really good & extremely accurate.Ring are a brand that come highly recommended.
Get one with a digital display rather than mechanical gauge, they are far more robust.
I have used one of these for years.

I've had one of these for a few years:
https://www.vonhaus.com/vh_en/12v-tyre-inflator
A good quality product; should be available elsewhere at a lower price.

Thanks for the recommendations all, good to know there are some worth getting and like the idea of the rechargeable ones. Hopefully some pop up on Black Friday!https://www.vonhaus.com/vh_en/12v-tyre-inflator

I'm also looking at these. My BMW doesn't have a spare, and isn't on runflats. It's got a can of gunge but I want an inflator.
There's one in my OH's car, a Ring RAC 601 I bought her, which works, but I don't entirely trust its accuracy, it's not that fast, it makes a hell of a noise, and it just feels to me as if it's going to vibrate itself to death.

I'd never considered a cordless option. That's a great idea. Especially as both my cars need the engine running to use the 12v socket.https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

I bought one of these a couple of weeks ago:

It says refurbed, but apart from the box having a couple of scuffs, the actual inflator appears brand new. And its seriously fast.

I have one of these:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Xiaomi-Portable-Electric-...
as well as a Ring 12v one.
I find both to be accurate and work well.
The battery one is very convenient to check pressure and top up a few psi, you can leave it hanging off the tyre to do its thing. The only downside is that if you have large tyres, and need more than a few psi, it takes a while, so would be no good for fully inflating a car tyre. It's also excellent for bicycle tyres.

I use DeWalt cordless power tools, so buying one of these was a no-brainer.

It runs off an 18v DeWalt battery. I have no idea whether it’s spot on accurate, but it’s close enough, and at least my tyres have the same pressure in them!
Downside is that it’s a bit big to carry in the car.

I've had one of these for years, will fully inflate a typical car tyre from flat in just over a minute.
It has croc clips straight to the car battery, too much current for most cig lighters, the gauge isn't brilliant so i over inflate a tad then check accurately with a proper gauge.
Think i paid about £60, hopefully someone might find it cheaper towards Black Friday or from elsewhere.

Curious what you use for a ‘proper’ gauge? It has croc clips straight to the car battery, too much current for most cig lighters, the gauge isn't brilliant so i over inflate a tad then check accurately with a proper gauge.

If you are already in the Makita 18v eco-system it’s a no brainer to get their tyre inflator.
I have a small mains powered compressor and air tank in the garage which I had for years and is still working fine. When it packs in I will be replacing it with a Makita 18v tyre inflator.Smint said:
Hmm, don't know if this is the same compressor, or a copy, ebay 144547759120Gassing Station | Suspension, Brakes & Tyres | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
