What back seats work for x 2 medium sized doggies .

My labrador travels much better on the back seats, in her harness with the footwell packed to be level with the seat so that her bed sits level and fully supported. Our collie likes to be in his cage in the boot, we tried travelling him on the back seat and he hated it.
Only mentioning this as I was somewhat surprised myself, thinking that the location would make little difference so long as they're secured and the ground is stable under their feet.

Depending on the height of your drivers, you may need to ensure the carhas good legroom in the back as there aren't many cars with seats deep enough to comfortably take a dog and so it's likely you'll also be needing to pack the footwells to increase the footprint for the bed/cage to rest on.

I’ve transported my golden retriever on the back seats of:

BMW M135i
BMW 630i
Jaguar XJ
Jaguar XF
VW Touareg
Volvo V40
Volvo V90
Hyundai 4x4 maybe a Tucson
A small Kia

He was happiest in the 630i - where he’d lie flat with his head on the transmission tunnel, nose as close as physically possible to my elbow without touching.

I bought the VW specifically to transport the dog. He hated the back seats (dog of taste) and steadfastly refused to go in the boot.

Buy the car you like, because if you get one for the dog, he’ll probably hate it.
