I don't believe the video - why don't we see the 360 pull away - headstart possibly?
Even if the Nova could do the 1/4 in 1 second - I wouldn't care.
Wander how that thing handles.....
Anyhow I know someone who has Supra with 850hp AT THE REAR WHEELS and can run 1/4 mile in 9.5s. The guy says it destroys everything bar the Koenig Twin Turbo F50 in a straight line. He's selling it, because after the 360, he thinks it pretty lame.........

I think the 360 must just get a bad start.
I have seen Novas with a proven 360BHP and stripped out it would have a way better power to weight than a 360 - you can hear it wheelspin into 3rd and after that I guess it should go like stink.
I suspect a standing mile would be a different story, as the Nova is about as aerodynamic as a stately home..

I hate these kind of stories because they are meaningless.
Seriously, if you had the option of ANY Ferrari or a Nova POS, no matter how fast in a straight line, would you EVER even think about the Nova.....NO!!!
When these boyz get a bit older (IF they make it!) they may understand what a COMPLETE car is about.
As an all round car even a Ferrari doesn't make it if you have a family, if no family then it is perfect, as is a top Porker or Lambo.
Good God, would you be seen dead in a Nova that was tricked up to the nines enough to beat a Ferrari ????
I think not, it's bad enough being seen in the BMer when people know you have the Ferrari
Sorry, but I've always been into a good handling car more than "max power" and straight line speed. I prefer a car that can go round corners and stop impeccably, something called "refinement" which the dragsters know nothing about, although the drag community are the best fabricators of car parts I have ever come across, ya need something to last or is out of the ordinary - get the drag boys to make it for ya, they are the best

Whenever I see something like this I just think 'I wonder how many laps it would complete at Le Mans' or 'Would I enjoy driving this to the south of France?' or 'what sort of lap time would it do at the Nurburgring?'
I know it wouldn't complete a single lap of either circuit at racing speed and would be a truly horrible experience to drive a Nova to the south of France

Haven't bothered to download the file as I can guess what's in it and I've seen this stuff before. Would agree with 308gt4 that it's pointless, as long as you can choose which car you drive home afterwards. For the guy in the Nova/Supra/family hatch who maybe doesn't have that choice, he can feel pretty good about the outcome. Doesn't entice me to have a Nova though.
456 runs this pretty close, and the gt4 looks like it could too. While this may run counter to the notion of a sports car, I really like the fact that it requires me to make few if any concessions to it in my lifestyle, since it means there are plenty of opportunities to use it. Would have to send it to Uncle Koenig for it's holidays before it would beat the Nova though

If you want to know how pointless 1/4 mile runs are, remember that G-Man's 644bhp Ultima only does it in about 11 seconds (virtually identical to a 425bhp Ultima) - because it is as much to do with traction and gearing as anything else. That is not to say that Gareth's car is slow, it is just that his Ultima hasn't even got into its stride yet... at 150 terminal speed, it is just about ready to deliver some real wallop. His 0-180 time would be something like 17 seconds!
There was a *moped* at Santa Pod that was doing 13s - as quick as Cossies, because it was made to do them. Corsas can be made to do 1/4 miles, but they can't be made into supercars.
And as has been pointed out previously, there is more to a car than straight line speed. Kev's 360 is a work of art, yet you don't find people comparing Rembrandts with bigger, more colourful Athena posters!!!

At least these guys who mod the Novas etc have an interest in cars and although they 'characterise' them, if we all thought the same the world would be a boring place.
For my sins, in my youth, I was a Nova owner, and I have to say that it was a surprisingly good car. I bought in new in 1988 and did 135,000 miles (yes you did read that right) in 5 years for very little money, during that time apart from normal servicing the only items I replaced were a clutch, a coil and get this one set of tyres. It was on the alloy wheel option and I reckon it was just over-tyred for its weight (my mates reckoned that I only ever had 3 wheels in contact with the tarmac at any one time!).
Depreciation amounted to less than 1K per year (I even sold it for a grand with that mileage) and it would do over 400 miles on a 9 gallon tank, it also use to cruise for hours at indicated 80-90mph.
Now thats what I call cheap motoring and we all have to start somewhere.

I couldn't agree more with most of the comments here.
There isn't a single "Max Powered" car I would even consider having over the likes of a Ferrari, especially the 360. As you have already said, it is a work of automotive art - absolutely marvellous!!!
I don't think people are "having a go" at these Boy racer cars (I for one am certainly not). I'm a car fanatic through and through, and therefore enjoy all types of car from your bog standard daewoo right up to the very latest supercars, and that includes everything inbetween.
The thing I struggle with the most is the amount of money people are prepared to put into a "Nova" for example. I don't know if anybody saw 5th gear last night, but they did a small artical on modified cars. One girl (yes that's correct) spent 20K modding (I believe the term is) a Corsa GSI.
Who in there right mind would spend 20K on a Corsa. For that kind of money I'd much rather have a TVR or Elise parked on the driveway. IMHO a much nicer looking, faster alternative.

£8k of that was probably interest on the Halfords store card.
I agree but a lot of people don't have access to £20k to start with, so buy a cheap car and then start spending money on it over a long period. They don't want to save up for a car as that takes too long.
It's funny - but a lot of people can't believe that ANYONE (no matter how loaded) will drop £4K SERVICING a Ferrari EVERY YEAR.
Its a counter argument that's been used sooo many times its kind of true - respect to the insanely fast Nova in the video etc - not my cup of tea - but I know lots of people think Ferraris/Lambos/Porkers/Masers etc are just as foolishly indulgent - unfortunately they have a point -
I actually HATE saying this but "each to their own." - sort of.....
